Junction Lookthrough and Oncoming Train Check options

The "Junction Lookthrough" is used when a preceeding section is tested for capacity for a train seeking to use it. If this option is on, then the section AFTER the portal (according to the route) is also tested to be clear. Without this option, this could happen anyway if the portal flows connected entry to exit, but if there was a queue etc then the outgoing section would not get tested. In other words, with this option on it forces the track system to treat the portal as a junction, making the inbound and outbound sections logically one.

The "Oncoming Train Check" is also often used for junction portals. It enables the track system to look past the portal and search other connected tracks for trains approaching (and, according to their route, intending to use) a given track connected to that portal.

This knowlege is used by a Loop when its doing a far reaching look-ahead to determine if its safe to give clearance to a train which wants to move through it. If the loop detects it has only a few slots left, it asks the objects around it if they have trains headed towards it. This option enables a portal to make that test beyond itself as well.

When on, these options add significantly to processing overhead for the track system
